This Privacy Policy explains how I Was There ("we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Information we collect

No Account Required

I Was There does not require, collect, or support user accounts. You can use all features of the app without providing any personal information.

iCloud

I Was There uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data across your devices. This feature is enabled by default if you're logged into your Apple account on your device.

What we sync:

  • Your selected favorite team
  • Game IDs representing games you've marked as attended

This data is stored only in your personal Apple account via CloudKit. We do not have access to, or store this data on our own servers. You may disable sync at any point in the app settings, which immediately removes this data from CloudKit. All app functionality remains available when sync is disabled.

Analytics

Anonymous data is collected for the purpose of monitoring activity and health of the application.

What we collect:

  • Device platform
  • Device model
  • Operating system version
  • Installation ID

This data helps us diagnose issues and monitor health of the application.

We do not collect:

  • Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
  • Unique device ID
  • Location data
  • IP addresses
  • Any data that could uniquely identify an individual

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Analytics data is anonymous, and used for the sole purpose of app improvement.

Third party content

I Was There sources its data from Retrosheet. They provide their complete datasets free of charge. Subsets of this data are stored on the user's device to facilitate app functionality.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We do not collect any personal information that can be linked to an individual as defined by CCPA.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

I Was There does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to function.
